Yuen Long Sewage Treatment Works (YLSTW) is designed to provide treatment for both domestic effluent from Yuen Long Industrial Estate. The YLSTW is a conventional activated sludge plant with removal of ammonia nitrogen. It provides secondary treatment with effluent discharged into the Shan Pui River at its downstream end and eventually to Deep Bay. The present capacity of the plant is 70,000 m3/day DWF with a 4 DWF allowance for preliminary and primary treatment and 3 DWF for secondary treatment.
