The name of Otanoshike station, that is a ghost station, came from “Ota-Noshike” of Ainu language. It means “center of sand beach”. The station, that was opened in 1901, was developed as one of the biggest trading place of war-horses until 1940s. After that, it increased its trading goods that were wood chips and paper products of paper factories.
However, afterwards, the transportation of them was took over by commercial vehicles. Please bring your pen.
現在は無人駅の大楽毛駅の名前はアイヌ語の「オタ・ノシケ」(砂浜の中央)に由来します。1901年に誕生したこの駅は1940年代まで軍馬の一大集散地として発展しましたが、その後、釧路にできた製紙工場で使用される木材チップや製紙工場で製造された製品などの取り扱いで道内で有数の貨物取扱量を誇りました。しかしその後貨物はトラック輸送に切り替えられ、現在は貨物の取り扱いはしていません。筆記具を持参ください。
