El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, tras la inauguración del Hemisfèric en 1998, el Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe junto con el Umbracle en 2000 y la apertura al público del Oceanográfico en 2003, completa el componente artístico que representa esta decidida apuesta de la Generalitat por la cultura en su más amplio sentido, junto a la ciencia, la tecnología y la naturaleza.
Inaugurado en 2005, cuenta con las más modernas tecnologías, adoptando la imagen correspondiente a un espacio vanguardista y actual, convirtiéndose en dinamizador cultural que sitúa a la Comunidad Valenciana, desde su centenaria tradición musical, en un lugar privilegiado entre las regiones de todo el mundo.
El majestuoso edificio, diseñado por el arquitecto e ingeniero valenciano Santiago Calatrava, supone para la ciudad de Valencia y la Comunidad Valenciana disponer de la mejor infraestructura para introducirlas en los circuitos internacionales, especialmente en lo referido a la ópera y los grandes espectáculos musicales.

After the inauguration of the Hemisfèric in 1998, the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum and the Umbracle in 2000, and the opening to the public of the Oceanográfico in 2003, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía completes the artistic facet of the Generalitat’s firm bid for culture in its broadest sense together with science, technology, and nature.
It was inaugurated in 2005 and is equipped with the most modern technologies to constitute an avant-garde and modern space, which is the cultural catalyst that has placed the Region of Valencia, with its centenary musical tradition, in a privileged position among all other world regions.
This majestic building, designed by the Valencia architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, means that both the city and the Region of Valencia have the best infrastructure available in order to participate on international circuits, especially those of opera and major musical shows.
