My Long Road To Ruin #67
The next part is a little long winded but I must tell.
So an odd thing happened while I was placing this one. As I was kneeling down getting the cache ready to hang, I noticed someone on a bike come around the corner to the east of me and The Mutt. The Mutt was closer to him but we were still about 100 - 150 m away from this person. He stopped and looked at us for a second and then pulled out a camera and took a couple of pictures. Then, he attempted to turn his bike around, wiped out, got back up, looked at us again and took some more pictures. How weird I thought to myself and began to get a little self conscious. After a minute or so he asked if I was OK, which was really weird and I said yes and asked him the same question? No reply. He said "see you soon", hopped on his bike and rode back the way he came. Huh? I finished placing the cache and then headed back that what wondering what had just occurred? Why was this guy taking our picture out on a deserted trail? Was I doing something wrong? Are the cops going to be waiting for me back at my truck on Simcoe? Weird, weird, weird. So me and The Mutt headed back down the trail and came across some people walking a whole whack of poodles in one of adjacent fields. Lots of barking, growling and tail wagging ensued but everything ended well and off we went, but I was totally frazzled now. I had planned on placing 3 more caches to reach 70 but was so self conscious now that I basically just hung the next one on a spruce tree a little further down the trail and high tailed it back to the truck. This is where the story gets really crazy. As I'm putting my stuff and The Mutt into the car, the guy on the bike comes out of the trail on the other side of the road. Being freaked out, I decide I need to know what this guy was doing taking my picture, so I say hi to him and start talking to him about this that and the other thing to figure out happened. Turns out, he lives nearby and when he came around the corner on the trail, he thought The Mutt was a wolf and because The Mutt's big and was in front of me, he didn't see me at all. So when he finally did see me, he thought the wolf had me down and out. I got a good chuckle out of that. We talked a bit more and it turns out he's seen The Mutt, before, because he is good friends with my next door neighbour and visits him all the time. Small world. So my mind was put at ease but now I needed to go back and finish up the last of the trail properly because it didn't end how I wanted it too.
