Geocache Description:

The cache is a 1.5L cliplock box. In celebration of this year’s London 2012 Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it contains a number of small UK flags. Please take one and move it on to another cache!

This is an area of high muggle activity, so please be careful, especially during busy periods. You do not need to enter the building to find the cache.

Small children or wheelchair users can access the cache location but may need help to find and retrieve the cache.

The cache has been placed on the route of the 2012 Olympic Torch relay.

When first placed, the cache contains a “first to find” medal, a UK geocoin and an Olympic “athletics” collectible 50p for swapping.

The Olympic torch will start its journey in Land’s End on 19th May, and travel around the UK for 70 days, finishing in the Olympic Stadium as part of the opening ceremony. On this journey, the Olympic flame will come within 10 miles of 95% of people in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey.

It will be carried by 8000 torchbearers, their inspirational stories represented by 8000 circles perforated in the aluminium alloy skin of the torch. These circles, which run the length of the torch, provide a level of transparency that allows the heart of the torch to be visible. They ensure that heat is quickly dissipated and is not conducted down the handle, and reduce the weight of the torch without compromising on strength. The torch is 800mm high, but weighs only 800 grams.

The gold colour of the torch embraces the brightness and warmth of the light the Olympic Flame shines.

The triangular shape of the torch was inspired by a series of “threes”:
• The three Olympic values of respect, excellence and friendship
• The three words of the Olympic motto – faster, higher, stronger
• The fact that the UK hosted the Olympic games in 1908, 1948, and now in 2012
• The vision for the London 2012 Olympic Games to combine sport, education and culture
