Hoosier Ranger is the one to be with when a bushwhack is involved. No matter where the cache is or what obstacles are in the way, he always finds the easiest path to the cache. Although I often complain we are walking a circuitous path he calls it, and I quote “the path of least resistance”.
The other day I decided I decided to use the Hoosier Ranger philosophy to place a cache along the Buffalo Bayou in Cinco Ranch. I started out at the site of the first cache I ever placed, called International Monetary Exchange (IME). Since potential sites were limited by the presence of numerous traditional and puzzle caches I created an image of the area with text boxes and the indicated coordinates showing potential sites to place a cache. Possible paths leading from IME to the potential caches are shown in various colors. The actual location is at one of the locations indicated by a text box. If you are familiar with this area, you will realize that the possible paths involve steep banks, water crossings, a 5’ alligator, muddy bogs (and Buddies), cottonmouth snakes, poison ivy, thorns, thick brush, barking dogs, obnoxious residents and feral hogs.
To get the actual cache location, start at IME and at each junction, think like Hoosier Ranger and choose the path of least resistance to get to the final.
