With our frequent adventures to the Coromandel in search of that hidden treasure we came across this gem of a camping spot to park the Geocamper and to plan the following days hunt. If you drive past this spot in the weekend you will be sure to see a minimum of 20-30 campers parked in a row next to the Firth of Thames.
This beachside camping spot is free to any 'Self Contained' Campervan or Caravan and you are allowed to stay for a maximum of 2 nights. Dogs are not permitted within the signposted area but there is room at the Northern end of the parking area where a dog would be allowed. If you are not Self Contained or do not want to park there for the night, the Miranda Holiday Park (next to the Miranda Hot Pools) is only a few kilometers south of this spot.
We have read a number of logs that would suggest that this spot is frequented by a number of Geocachers so we decided it would be an ideal spot to place a cache. The cache is a simple park and grab for those staying over or if you are just passing through. Please be mindful of the resident happy campers if you are attempting this at night. If you do spot our Geomobile parked up please come and say hello.
