This cache has been placed in a small wood on Stamford Hill close to where the battle of Stratton took place in 1643, where the Royalist Cornish overwhelmed the roundheads and triumphed, saving Cornwall for the King and smashing the parlimentarian threat. This battle is re-enacted every year and is quite a spectacle and gives a real idea of how raw violence 17th century style was conducted before the advent of push-button warfare.
This is a regular cache which has many treasures, log book and pen.During the month of May the woods are covered in a blanket of Bluebells and wild garlic.
