Geocache Description:

Located at the white cross on the hill behind the town of Kestell. You'll also get a great view of the Drakensberg Mountains. Can be done on foot or by bakkie or 4x4. 1813m above sea level.

The street running behind the NG church can be taken to access the road to the top of the hill. At the top you can go to the white cross to look for the cache. Its a plastic container hidden under one of the rocks! Enjoy the view! The town was established in 1905 on land purchased from Adriaan and Johannes Bezuidenhout. Kestell was named after Reverend J.D.Kestell who was a revered cultural leader and served in a Boer commando as a field chaplain during the second Anglo-Boer war.

The most dominating feature of the town is the Dutch Reformed church built in sandstone and designed by Gerhard Moerdyk who was also responsible for designing the Voortrekker monument in Pretoria.
