Stop for this cache and you will get a great view of government waste. The Thomson Correctional Center is a maximum security prison that was built between 1999 and 2001 at a cost of 140 million dollars!
As you can see, the prison is abandoned since no money was budgeted to run the prison once it was finished. It was opened for a short time with a minimum number of prisoners, but is now completely closed.
