Box Elder Creek Phenomenon Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jedi Cacher: Decided to archive a group of my caches over the holiday weekend. I love this hobby/sport. Been good to me over the years. But time to make way for the new pioneers of geocaching. Thanks to all that have visited my caches over the years.

Geocache Description:

This caching adventure will take you on a great hike through scenic canyon land. The cache is a 2 stage multi located deep within the canyon along Box Elder Creek.

Park at the forest service gate located off Nemo Road. Then follow the FS road down into the canyon where you will be greeted by a gentle flowing creek and high canyon walls. You must then make a creek crossing to get to the first stage. There are rocks in place, but might be a good idea to use a hiking stick for balance. If you fall in, then please take a picture. At the first stage you will be looking for a metal tag with coordinates on it. These coordinates will then lead you to an ammo can packed full of killer swag. Approximately 90ft from the first stage there is the geological phenomenon. You will find water bellowing from beneath the earth and flowing down into the creekbed. This is either a spring or the creek is traveling underground and reappearing here. It is a very awesome sight! As you travel up the canyon to the final you will then notice that the creekbed is dry and the creek is no longer flowing. I'm pretty sure that at certain times of the year, that there is water flowing through here, so please be aware of the dangers of flash flooding. Also take note that there are reference points for all the locations mentioned. I rated this cache a 3.5T due to the creek crossing and the steep terrain back up the FS road to the parking area. The hike is .24 miles to the first stage as the crow flies. This cache will not disappoint as the scenery is awesome and the hike is well worth the effort.
