I've always liked bats; I like how they're built, how they fly and what they do. They're a beautiful example of a creature adapting to fill a niche, and they pollinate quite a few types of flowers, cacti and trees worldwide. So it's only natural that I'd make a cache in their honor.
This is an easy one, placed off of an easy trail; go have a nice walk through Madera Canyon's beautiful woodlands and escape the hot Summer temperatures. Unless you do this as a night cache (which I wouldn't advise due to snakes, bears and so forth), the bats'll be asleep; but if you get there late in the day, you might be lucky enough to see them wake up and emerge from their homes for an enjoyable evening of bug-hunting, nectar-drinking, and babybat-making. This cache is large enough to hold a log, small items of swag and also coins; the current lot is mostly bat-oriented, and if you're able to, please carry on the theme in the swag you leave. Please do NOT disturb the bats or touch their abodes, and please rehide this cache well when you leave. Thanks, and enjoy!
Congrats to backroads2010 for FTF!
