Castle in the Skye Traditional Cache
geogeriatrics: We understand the reasons for the need to archive this cache. Thankyou Lorgadh (Karen) for the detailed advice. Unfortunately we are unable to visit the cache site to remove the remains. In the past Taliskarskye had volunteered to look after our handful of caches on Skye. Sadly we now mourn his passing. We shall never forget that day when Countrymatters , myself and Taliskarskye went together to find that wonderful Skye Earthcache, The Spar Cave in 2013.

A traditional cache best approached from Loch Cleat.
The cache is a black cylindrical "turtle" large enough for standard sized trackables and small exchange items.
It fits in well with two caches a little further to the North set by countrymatters namely
Skye:Rubha Hunish (Meall Tuath) GC3WEF8 &
Historic Skye:Erisco GC3MWTT
Duntulm Castle stands ruined on the north coast of Trotternish, on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, near the hamlet of Duntulm. During the 17th century it was the seat of the chiefs of Clan MacDonald of Sleat.
The castle was built in the 14th and 15th centuries, when the area was subject to feuds between the rival MacLeod and Macdonald clans.
According to one local legend, the castle was abandoned after the infant son of the chieftain who dwelt there at the time, in the charge of a nursemaid, fell from a window and was dashed on the rocks below. As a punishment, the nursemaid was set adrift on the North Atlantic in a small boat.
