The Memaloose Hills are blanketed with balsamroot between late April and early May, and the views are wonderful. Plus, now you have a geocache to entice you to make this hike.
Park at Memaloose Overlook, then cross the Historic Highway and follow the trail leading south. (Waypoints provided.) There IS poison oak along the trail, but you should be able to avoid it if you are careful. The "wading" attribute is included because you will have to cross a small (probably seasonal) stream en route, but you should be able to stay dry while doing so. The "dangerous animal" attribute is included because a snake was guarding our first tentative geocache location. Look before reaching in!
The container is a small circular lock-and-lock. Please use both sides of the log sheets! After you have signed the log, please replace it in its plastic bag, snap the lid securely closed on all four sides, and cover the container so that it is not visible.
