We archived this cache in September 2010. At last we have managed to replace it at slightly different co-ordinates and a different hint.
There is often confusion between the names of Arniston and Waenhuiskrans. Both are widely used but Arniston is the official(cadastral) name of the village. The name Arniston is taken from the ship, SS Arniston, a British East Indiaman which was wrecked on 29th May 1815. About 340 people were drowned during this event. See Paddawan’s cache - GC2JMBG for all the details.
About 1.5km south of the village is the giant sea-cave – Waenhuiskrans (wagon house cliff). The cave resembles a ‘waenhuis’, the structure in which ox-wagons were sheltered. It is said the cave is large enough to allow a span of oxen to turn a wagon around in the cave.
The cave is well worth visiting but only at LOW Tide.
We suggest you park at S34° 40.579 E20° 13.882. Please do not be tempted to drive further in an ordinary car as they can often get bogged down
