Let's use our COMMON SENSE to explore our 6 other senses! What things do we just take for granted? Willow Rock Gardens welcomes you to explore this American Hemerocallis Society Display Garden and AHS Historic Garden ----that is DAYLILY ya all! We are a FREE garden and open to the public--it is a residence with another geocache located on site so come one come all and let's have some FUN!
Willow Rock Gardens was created in 2009 from gardens in Upstate NY. We set out to showcase daylilies and are a family operated by 3 generations of women---all fellow geocachers! I am the ringleader, Heather who started on this journey when I was 10 with my first daylily--the common roadside lily--that was 35 years ago! My daughter, Amanda Jack (almost 18) has grown up in the gardens in NY and here and has hand dug a pond and 95' creek here! Yes, HAND DUG! She and I are better known as the delawarefarmergirls! Grace, is my mom she is new to geocaching and has retired from NYS to join us here in the gardens---she likes her roses and iris! In 2011, we became Delaware's first and only American Hemerocallis Society's Display Garden and Historic Garden. This is nationally recognized and right here in the FIRST STATE! We also realized that there was no 9/11 Memorial in Delaware so we brought steel towers representing the Empire State Builidning and the Twin Towers to Delaware and built the first 9/11 Memorial Garden. May we never forget....
We currently showcase over 2300 varieties of daylilies, 50 or so varieties of hosta, roses, iris and other companion plants in fun themes like Pirates, Witches, Blessed, Oz....it is an adventure around every corner and a chance to explore the history of the daylily, the company of fellow geocachers and to explore YOUR SENSES....
We are located at 2104 Sewell Branch Road Clayton DE 19938 the event will be held rain or shine in the pole barn and outside areas. There will be 6 geocaches placed for this event SIGHT, SMELL, TASTE, HEARING, TOUCH and of course, GEOSENSE! Let's get this event rolling by meeting on site at 11AM and please bring a dish to share and a chair if possible!
