Geocache Description:

Second in the Pimpernell series. This is definitely not a Cache and Dash. BEWARE this cache has natural summer protection...only for the brave till autumn.
;

At the time of Sir Percy’s capers in France them damn Frenchies were just setting up a system of telegraph towers which could transmit semaphore based messages over many miles. The system, invented by Claude Chappe, would have been used to try to intercept our hero as he sped between the French ports and the scene of his great exploits Paris.
At this site you can see what Percy thought of these monstrosities, although these are of a more modern vintage.
To show his continued distain he has again left his mark, well camouflaged, but in plain view amongst these fallen poles. It is a log only cache so please bring your own quill.

As Baroness Orczy might have said and GreenEyedLady did:

The rascal Pimpernel is back
And he's planning his next attack

Did the Frenchies think a set of towers?
Would thwart our hero's superior powers?

The Pimpernel's honor he will avenge,
In a cache known as Percy's Revenge. (GEL 2012)

As Percy said to Chauvelin "La, man, you're astonishing. Can't you see that this is my way of hitting back?"
