Geocache Description:

In 1202, the Gerladine proprietors of the town built a lighthouse on the cliff at the west side of the mouths harbour. The original tower was seven-and-a half metres tall and three metres in diameter. The beacon was discontinued 1542. The current lighthouse, made from granite imported from Scotland, was designed by George Halpin and work began on its construction in 1848. It was not until February 1852 that the harbour light was first displayed. The lantern is 78 feet (24 m) above sea level.

The cache is a green regular box near the lighthouse and the nests of the seagulls, it contains a logbook and a pen. It's hidden well. At the cache site you are able to look inside the lighthouse, please DO NOT climb the fence to get into the lighthouse!
