Another cache at a scenic fire lookout. Five Mile Butte is accessible to nearly any passenger vehicle. If the gate is locked, park there and proceed on foot less than a half mile to the tower. Or, if you prefer a longer more scenic hike, take the trail up from 8 mile campground (1.7 miles, one way). The trail will fork and you will want to bear right up the "more difficult" trail. The cache is hidden just out of view of the tower so that your search will not intrude upon the privacy of anyone staying there. The trail skirts the south side and the cache can be easily reached via this route.
