Olympic Odyssey Bonus: Mt. OLYMPUS Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

El Fartero: We checked up on this cache today and no sign of it. GZ has changed quite a bit as well. The glory of the pagan deities is oh so fleeting! Thanks to all who searched.

Geocache Description:

Update 4/16/17--La Vaca Verde and I put a lot of work into this cache series, and we're glad that people had fun finding it (and gave us some Fav points!)

However, it's a complicated cache and a challenge to maintain. Plus it's a few years old now, and not many folks go out to look for it anymore.

So we've decided to no longer do maintenance on this series, and will let it fade quietly away. We will not replace cache stages that go missing. In order that cachers can still log this Final, we will post here the portion of the Final stage coordinates that had been in archived caches. As of this writing, these are "Haephestus," "Apollo,' "Ares," and "Hermes." If you encounter other caches that are missing, let us know. We will archive them and tell you the part of the solution they had.

UPDATE 8/25/18: Sorry to see that 2 more caches in this once-great series (Demeter and Aphrodite) have fallen victim to the muggles, the critters, or the elements. We're archiving them and filling in their numbers for the final stage. There are still 5 caches, plus the final, available to be found.

Right now, the Final stage can be found at: N42 A5.CD1, W75 07.H66.

*************************************************************************************

It is not given to mere mortals to ascend to the summit of Mt. Olympus, nor to ordinary geocachers to mingle in the company of the gods.

But you are no mere mortal, nor ordinary geocacher.

You have found Poseidon in his castle of coral.

You have sent correspondence in Hermes' winged shoes.

You have peered past the border of Hades' dread kingdom.

You have reaped of the harvest of Demeter's bounty.

You have sharpened the arrows of Artemis' quiver.

You have felt the heat of Hepahaestus' forge.

You have tasted the spirits of Dionysus' vineyard.

You have learned from the wisdom of Athena's book.

You have surveyed the battlefield of furious Ares.

You have basked in the sun with handsome Apollo.

You have won the fair heart of lovely Aphrodite.

Ascend to the storied heights of Mt. Olympus, where the gods have prepared for you a feast of nectar and ambrosia!

Sign the log. Trade some swag. Take a picture. We're glad you came.

OLYMPIC ODYSSEY is a Team El Fartero Production

Concept and Design: La Vaca Verde
Story and Screenplay: The Stinky One
Classical Mythology Consultants: Professors Claire and Akiva
Location Security: Huck the Geodog

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Team El Fartero presents this tribute to the mythological deities of the ancient world. They may make poor role models, but their stories are never dull and will never grow old. Take the journey and discover the Spirits that may still lurk in the moonlit wilderness, or if not there, at your local Cinema chain!

The Olympic Odyssey series consists of 12 caches, each individually crafted and stocked in tribute to their divine inspiration. It is the product of many weeks of planning and preparation, and will bring an afternoon of surprise and adventure to the geocacher who seeks them. Ten of them contain a coordinate which will lead you to Mount Olympus, where the gods have prepared a fitting cornocopia to reward your valor and heroism.

Completion of the series will take about 5 hours, and requires 5 miles of hiking, with some climbing and bushwhacking. Start your journey at the posted Parking Coordinates, where you can enjoy a picnic before beginning your quest.
