High-Tech Stump Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there has been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This is my second cache and there should not be a muggle factor due to it's area of location! The cache is a minimal challenge to get to but could not accommodate a wheelchair and pants are probably a good idea! The area does not accomadate most cell phones with great coverage. So, prior research, or a GPS unit may be a good idea. A caching partner on this cache is a good idea but not required.

This cache is located near the River Falls area and can be accessed from Devils Fork Road. You will be looking for a parking area on the banks of "Timberlands Lake" once your on that road. There are two parking areas there and both have the same information near them, which will be needed at the cache. At the parking area that circumnavigates a power line pole you will find a "thigh-high" gray AT&T cylinder that has three numbers directly under a warning sticker, also, located at the second parking area is the same number on a camoflauged wood strip nailed to a tree. That number should be recorded mentally, exactly, for use at the cache.

The supplied coordinates will put you near a stump where you will find a "control", you should manipulate that control to reveal the cache, your observance to your surroundings while using the "control" is important. Also on the stump, you will find a "hook screw", this will be a "helper" that will assist you in holding the "control" while you go retrieve the cache, unless you are with a caching partner that can do this for you, but I assure you all cacher will want to see the cache! For retrieval, you should disconnect the cache by unhooking it from a carabineer that you'll find. Once you have the cache in hand you will notice a lock and you will need to align the numbers from the parking areas, with the white dots on the lock, from top to bottom, then grasp the "lock wire” on the same side as the numbers and push inwards to release the lock. You will want to leave the numbers in place until you return the cache to normal order, so that you can secure the lock, and replace the cache where it resides.(Don’t forget to jumble the numbers for the next cacher!) This is where a caching partner could be helpful because it will be very necessary to assist the cache back into its home. I hope everyone enjoys this cache, I put a lot of effort and time into making it!

Honorary FTF goes to my caching buddy and long time friend F250GUY for his help in installing the cache. STF gets their choice of a new LED light projector, new travel size sew kit, new pocket calculator, or a trackable I have picked up along the way in my geocaching adventures! Also there is logbook.

HAPPY CACHING AND THANKS FOR FINDING MY CACHE! Permission granted for cache placement by Sgt. Kenny League of the South Carolina Department Of Resources.
