Geocache Description:

Commemorating twelve years

On May 9, 2000 the first GPS Stash in California, the "LAX Stash" (to become GC1C) was placed in the area around Los Angeles International airport by James Coburn (no, not that one). This was less than one week after Dave Ulmer's original stash near Estacada, Oregon. By May 31st ithe LAX stash was found and logged, there was a lot less FTF frenzy back in the day.

It's now twelve years later. There are over 1.7 million active geocaches and over 5 million geocachers worldwide. In the last 30 days, there have been 7,426,099 new logs submitted on geocaching.com alone. People are finding things all over the globe. So when you find this cache, not hard, put an extra step in that happy dance.

Congratulations to n9jim for the FTF!

Special notes: Cache is a magnetic nano, hidden in a common style. Approach GZ from the east or north, to the west is a restricted area. (The restricted area has a normally unoccupied guard shack in its driveway.) Cache is not in plants, and is above ground level. Although the site is open, there is some construction activity. If parking is blocked at GZ use the retail area to the north, across Arques Ave.
