FWP #14- Dick Trickle Traditional Cache

This series, FWP or Famous Wisconsin People, will acknowledge the accomplishments of some well-known (and maybe not so well-known) individuals from our state.

Richard "Dick" Trickle was born on October 27, 1941 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and died May 16, 2013 at the age of 71. He was inspired to become a race car driver at an early age, when he was taken to Crown Sppedway in Wisconsin Rapids, by a friend. When he saw his first race, it never left his mind. His goal was to become a race car driver. He worked hard for neighboring farmers, saving his money, until he was able to buy his first car, which he built into a stock car, at age 16. He went on to compete in ASA, ARTGO, ARCA, IMCA, NASCAR and USAC events between the early 1960s through 2002.

Dick Trickle raced in over 2,200 races, logged over one million laps, and won about 1,000 feature races. He is known as the winningest short track driver in racing history. He has won one NASCAR Winston Open, two NASCAR Busch Series wins, 32 ASA wins, 68 ARTGO Challenge Series wins, 2 NASCAR Southwest Tour wins and 2 USAC wins. Dick Trickle continues to race in occassional events in Wisconsin. You are searching for a small container placed in honor of Dick Trickle's accomplishments.
