Ambelos is a beautiful small village located high upon the sea on the North of Samos. Above the village there is the mountain Karnouvi. You reach the village over a beautiful road from Agios Konstantinos through a forest with pine trees. There are stunning views as you drive up the hill to Ambelos and great views from the village itself. Ambelos hosts a couple of nice chapels, some tavernes and shops. The village church dates from 1672!
Gabi Orfanos from the Hotel Atlantis in Agios Konstantinos told us the story of the forgotten mining cave of Ambelos: Just a couple of years ago an old samiote of Ambelos unveiled the tale about the lost water fall to the young people of the fire brigade of Ambelos. Nobody except him still knew about this secret place where the water and the rocks have formed a nice basin. The young people worked hard for weeks to restore a path securing it with ropes and little bridges.
Surprisingly they found the entrance to a forgotten mining cave, too. Not even the old samiote had known about it – and it still seems to be unknown who had digged into the rock any why in ancient times.

The coordinates do not directly point to the cache – obviously the GPS does not help you at all.
Be very careful when you pass the water outside and inside! Don’t risk your health!
Contains at start:
- Various modern torches (Well, if you have reached the cache, than you most likely don’t need it anymore.)
- Some magnets
Gabi Orfanos from the Hotel Atlantis in Agios Konstantinos will maintain the cache in the future.
