The Masonic Temple in Muskegon, MI
This is my first cache and it seemed appropriate to be at the place where I have the most memories growing up. It is on private property and I do have permission of the building manager.
This actually isn't the original temple. This building was built in 1948. The original was at western and 3rd if I remember correctly. The first floor is a beautiful banquet hall and a full kitchen. There is a fish fry every Friday from 4:30p to 7p, a dinner the first Sunday of every month from 11:30a to 1:30p, and a brunch the third Sunday of every month from 10a to 1p.
The second floor is the lodge room, the meeting place for all the masonic organizations: Muskegon Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, Muskegon Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Muskegon Council Royal & Select Masons, Genesis Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, Bethesda Shrine White Shrine of Jerusalem, Job's Daughters International, and Muskegon Commandery Knights Templar. That's why there are no windows.
The basement is actually one of the last fallout shelters in town.
There is a lot of history in this building, a lot of Muskegon's history....
2 free fish fry dinners for FTF..
