This is the site of the Hopetoun West State School which ran from 1898 until 1947.
Hopetoun West State School had a rather short and varied history, teaching many farm kids in the area (including our Grandmother) and was one of many schools in this isolated area as transportation was scarce.
The school ran up until the end of the second World War. The building that exists on this site is still accessible, however caution is urged as the floor can be unstable and there are lots of sharp things waiting to attack unprotected feet.
You are looking for an ammo can with a good view of the school.
