Cast your eye on the horizon facing WNW and if the weather is clear you will spot land. Sark, Herm and Guernsey. Us locals are referred to as Beans whilst our cousins in Guernsey are affectionately called Donkeys.
Not always possible but Guernsey, Herm, Sark and further north Alderney and further still the Normandy coast of France are viewable from Jersey. Sea fog, or low cloud is often the reason why we can't see our Norman neighbours from time to time.
