Kenzie has wanted to place a cache out for a while so we went to Allen Park. When she got out of the van she ran around like a squirll with cabin fever and out into the flowers she went. Terrain is rolling and the coords should be good but the container is well cammoed.
CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDS. THIS IS A LETTERBOX HYBRED CACHE. As a letterbox type is much like a mystery cache you will have to follow the following description to get to the cache. PLEASE LEAVE THE STAMPS IN WITH THE LETTERBOX LOG BOOK!. There is a log book for regular Geocachers.
Your GPS will get you to a parking spot just north of the fork in the road in Allen Park Conservation Area. This parking spot is the end of an old maintenance road and is blocked by a couple of bolders so you will have to proceed on foot from here. Walk uphill from the bolders to the top of the hill (approx. 3 chains at 100 degrees by compass).
At this point you will be between two tall Red Pine trees. Turn to the north (18 deg by compass) or left not quite 90 deg. and walked through a thinned out forest area for about 3 more chains. You will come upon a large old knarley Maple tree. You will have to step over some large downed trees which were actually the old trees fallen branches to get to the tree. Tucked under the most obvious root is a well cammoed peanut butter jar holding a logbook and some trinkets. (One log book for Geocaching and one for Letterboxing - please leave the stamps)
