On Butterfly's Wings Letterbox Hybrid
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This letterbox cache is located in the Wise Farm educational preserve, a property of Hopkins Public Schools. The property is open for the public to enjoy. Be aware that they do run school groups here, and also a cross country trail during the season, so muggles may occasionally be an issue.
Parts of the preserve have a tendency to flood when it's wet, including some of the trail. You might plan accordingly.
The posted coordinates are at the parking area where you will start your adventure.
This letterbox was placed for a Girl Scout troup, to earn their letterboxing badge, and initially there was a special log book in there specifically for them to use. Please respect this and sign/stamp the other book. And the stamp and ink pad are not swag. (but then you already knew that, didn't you?)
On Butterfly's Wings...
The little butterfly was wandering around one afternoon, looking at the sights. Suddenly, she realized she was further from here perch than she’d ever been. She was at the big blue sign near the little log cabin! There were some people’s pieces of metal than move parked there.
Would she be able to find her way back?
She turned around, to go back the way she came. It seemed that she was flying straight into the sun, which she’d always heard traveled to the west. She flew past an open gathering area and to the edge of the trees.
She saw a trailway that started here, and decided to fly along it. There was a sign next to it with a “2” on it, what ever that meant. She followed the trail, and came to a wooden bridge, for those silly things who couldn’t just fly over the water. What a great thing it was, to be able to fly around.
Once she crossed the bridge, she had to decide which of two trails to follow. One went away from the water, but she decided to follow the trail that stayed closer to it.
The trail twisted and turned, still following the water. Eventually she passed a sign with a “5” on it, then passed between two big trees on the trail which seemed like a gate. She was really excited, because they seemed very familiar.
A little bit later, she found the sign she was looking for. It had a lot of words on it, and a picture of her friend the Wise Owl on it. She knew when she got there she only had to turn so her back was to the sign and go into the woods about 100 feet to a tree that was lying on the ground to find her perch!
