Geocache Description:

Gatepost of the peace

Most city areas were burnt to the ground by an air raid of Utsunomiya on July 12 in 1945, and the Eda hospital which there was in this ground burnt down.
However, the gatepost of this granite was left.
It is kept carefully not to forget misery of the war.

1945年（昭和20年）7月12日、宇都宮大空襲によって当時の市街地の大半が焦土と化し、この地にあった枝病院も焼け落ちました。
このみかげ石の門柱は、枝病院院長　枝さん宅の玄関を支えていたもので、「戦争の悲惨さを忘れまい」との思いがこめられ、現在も大切に残されてきました。
