Chemainus - An Island Spirit Legacy Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Prickly Thorns: We are sadly archiving this cache because it was in a very high traffic area and truthfully a little bit dangerous. Its first location wasn't dangerous but was muggled. There are many other caches to enjoy in Chemainus.

Chemainus

The name Chemainus comes from the native Halkomelem language meaning 'bitten breast' or 'broken chest' depending on the story. One is that a frenzied shaman bit a spectator during a tribal ceremony and the bitemark resembled the horseshoe shaped bay, another is that a native shaman survived a massive wound in his chest as a child and he became a powerful chief of his people and that the area his tribe lived in became known as Tsa-meeun-is or Chemainus.
