The title "I feel the need ... the need for speed" is a quote from one of my all time favourite movies featuring F-14 Tomcats and F-5 Freedom Fighters (the latter starring as MIG-28s in the movie) - you probably guessed the title already.
This series of caches is a tribute to all the airports around the world.

ÅRØ AIRPORT
The airport is pretty new and serves the Romsdal area. During a number of years it has been discussed whether an airport should be built in Molde or in Kristiansund a bit further north. The authorities decided on an airport in Kristiansund and one on the island of Vigra outside Ålesund.
The reason for not selecting Molde was concerns of bad weather conditions affecting the service.
Molde city did not agree and requested a report on the weather impact on the flight service. This report showed a 90% regularity of service which was acceptable and the city of Molde decided to fund the airport.
The airport is not fully ILS equipped (ILS = Instrument Landing System) since it only has full ILS approach capabilities from the west using runway 07 but not from the east using the same runway (named runway 25).
