Geocache Description:

Join us for a 2.2km up hill hike to the best view in albert county.

This is not a 'walk in the park' hike. Sturdy boots and a good respiratory system are required. This hike was the first time I was really glad to have quit smoking in June 2011.

The path is great with big tree roots and lots of gravel all over the place to help you along. It's a really great walk and the view is just the best payoff.

Hike begins at 10am.

Details:
BRING BUG SPRAY.

Hayward Pinnacle is the second highest peak in Albert county.
My GPS measured it at 405m (1328 feet 8? inches). You can see the actual highest peak in the county from here. It's got a windmill on it. :)
This side trail of the Dobson starts along the side of the Hayward Rd.

here's our last gps track of the trail:http://gobreadcrumbs.com/user/evulc/hiking/dobson-trail/2011-12-03-hayward-pinnacle

Bring along snacks and lots of water, we'll have a picnic lunch at the peak.

I'll have my camera & tripod along to take more panoramic shots with the group and individuals that I'll post on cacheupnb.com after the hike.

To get there from Moncton Area:
Get to the Turtle Creek Rd. NB Route 910.
Drive all the way to the Prossor Brook Rd. Less than 1km in the paved road turns into dirt.
This dirt section is usually quite bumpy and has lots of sharp gravel, but is more than passable even in Zor's little yellow cache mobile if you are cautious.
It is maintained year round to permit access to the wind farm. Which has a HUGE sign on your left along the way.

Keep driving past the wind farm until you reach the Hayward Rd. on your left.
Drive along there until you see the green Dobson Trail sign on your left.
You will notice a small pull off area near the sign.
As long as we all keep tight to the same side(left) of the rd we should be able to fit quite a few cars.
Carpooling is heavily advised.

here's google's version of my directions: route map

PA knows best as usual and describes a couple other routes to get here in the comments below. His route thru Salisbury worked out well for us today and is in great shape too.(05/18/2012)

Please be respectful of the area and park as out of the way as possible,
as this section and the rest of the dobson trail crosses private lands with permission from the owners.
Without their permission, we'd all miss a spectacular view.

We'll wait around for a few minutes for late comers, but we plan to start up the hill at 10am.
