The red telephone box designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, is a familiar sight on the streets of the UK. The colour red was chosen to make them easy to spot.
Upon the privatisation of British Telecom (BT), a more utilitarian design began to replace most of the existing boxes. Some 2000 boxes were given listed status and several thousand others were left on low-revenue mostly rural sites but many thousands of recovered boxes were sold off. Some kiosks have even been converted to be used as shower cubicles in private homes!
This box has been adopted by the local primary school to showcase some of the pupils' projects and art-work. It was re-painted by volunteers and has a changing display inside (the door is kept locked)
The cache is a small plastic box containing log, pencil and a TB when set.
