Geocache Description:

First of the Country Park (JYGY) cache series in Beijing I intend to create. Also the first cache I've created since my registration in 2004...What took me so long?!

The Shucun Country Park is located in the Haidian district and covers an area of 37 hectare. It's located near the heart of the Zhonggyancun Software Park,  the "Silicon Vally of Beijing".

Background on Country Parks in Beijing
Rapid modernization of Beijing, the capital of China means disappearing parks and greenary. Fortunatelly the city government has a master plan to preserved or create Country Parks (郊野公园) around the city, and the first batch of 15 Country Parks opened its door to everyone for FREE in May 2008. There are over 30 todate and they planned to have a total of 102 eventually.

Who Else Are Around Here
The Haidian district is the home of well known higher tertiary institutions, Qinghua University and Peking University. It's also the home of the Summer Palace (Yihe Yuan) and the Old Summer Palace (Yuan Ming Yuan).
