Geocache Description:

This is a relisting of my archived Rattlesnake Ridge Trailhead (West) GC22T22 cache. I never liked its location but I was forced to take what I could get due to several blocking caches. Recently all of them were archived though before I could make up my mind to replace it, the location that I wanted, the information sign, was blocked out again. So instead I’ve had to list this as a multi to move the final to a suitable location.

The Multicache

Since the multi aspect is just to fudge the location of the posted coordinates, I’m making it very easy. So easy in fact that it will be one of, if not the, easiest multis that you will ever do.

Simply answer these questions and apply the results to the formula below
A = How many bathroom buildings are there?
B = How many large new information signs are there?

The final is located at:
N47 30.53(5+A)
W121 50.65(7+B)

The Cache
A less than perfect Chamaeleontidae raised by Smokeyg and that I found living in one of their forest communes; I call him one-eyed Joe.

While it’s reasonably hidden from most parking lot eyes, stealth is always helpful.

The Trail

Rattlesnake Ridge is a wonderful through hike with many truly fantastic views. This end of the trail gains elevation slower and much more consistently then the Rattlesnake Lake end making for an easier day. Best of all, along the way there are lots of caches!

The trailhead area was recently updated with bathrooms, a new paved parking area and a new information sign. The parking area gate is marked as open between 7 am to 7 pm though when we arrived at 6:20 am one day the gate was already being unlocked. There’s also plenty of parking outside the gate so early arrivers can park there adding only a few hundred feet of distance to the hike.

The trailhead at the other end can be found at Rattlesnake Ridge Trailhead (East) (GC22T21)

Rattlesnake Ridge by Wikipedia
Rattlesnake Ridge (sometimes called Rattlesnake Ledge or Rattlesnake Mountain) is a mountain ridge located south of North Bend, Washington, United States. It rises from the intersection of State Route 18 and I-90 and runs southeast about seven air miles (11 km) or eleven trail miles (18 km). It is the highest and easternmost of the Issaquah Alps (although Cedar Butte in the gap between Rattlesnake Ledge and the Cascade front at Mount Washington is considered by Harvey Manning to be a quasi-Alp). A complicated maze of abandoned logging roads and constructed trails have been strung together to provide a 13-mile (21 km) foot path from the Snoqualmie Point Trailhead at Exit 27 on I-90 all the way to the Rattlesnake Lake trailhead near Exit 32.

Most of the mountain is owned by the state of Washington or King County, and is protected as Rattlesnake Mountain Scenic Area, managed jointly by Washington State Department of Natural Resources and King County Park and Recreation Department. The Southern section of the mountain, closed to public, is owned by Seattle Water Department, while large sections in the western part of the ridge are owned by Weyerhaeuser Corporation, which conducts substantial logging operations there.
