Geocache Description:

A multi-cache placed to coincide with the WWFM IX event held in Peterborough in June 2012. Placed as an affectionate tribute to two caches, one similar cache in Glasgow Mr Beach_hut found some time ago and is now sadly archived, and thisisace's puzzle cache that requires you to walk these very streets!

You know what it's like, traipsing round the shops of Peterborough (like anywhere really), particularly on a Saturday, crowds everywhere, stress etc. Well we've placed this cache as an antidote to all of that. Take a break from shopping to hunt out the clues, then take a leisurely walk to find the cache (within half a mile of starting co-ords). We would estimate you should allow 30-45 mins altogether.

We apologise in advance if any of the co-ords are slightly off, we've done the best that we can. The tall stone buildings round these parts don't make for great GPS readings. Feel free to message us with any suggested improved co-ords for any stage of this cache.

Firstly position yourself at the starting co-ords. You will find yourself at the entrance to a shopping centre. Pop inside a moment (NB you can obviously only do this during opening times, hence marked as not 24 hours in the attributes) you will see a clock. Find the year this clock was manufactured, and call this 1ABC. Find the day and month this clock was unveiled in its current location, and call the day D, and the month E.

Nearby is a foundation stone laid when the aforementioned shopping centre was being constructed. Take the day of the month in which this was laid, call this FG.

(NB these first two clues are indoors, hence co-ords are as close as I can get you. Both items are within 10 paces of doors on inside.)

Now pop outside again, and move to N 52° 34.E5B W 000° 14.54E. Here you will find a plaque commemorating a chapel that once stood here. In what year was the nave demolished? Call this answer 1HIJ.

Now move to N 52° 34.E3D W 000° 14.5G1. Here you will find another plaque telling you of a service once provided here. In which month of the year was this plaque erected? Call this K. During which period was this service provided? Years 19LM to 19ML, that's when.

Now move to N 52° 34.MHD W 000° 14.5J1. How many keys are on this object? Call this N. How many slots are cut into any given key? (include any slots off slots etc) Call this P.

Checksum: total your answers up to this point. You should total 58.

Now move to N 52° 34.2A5 W 000° 14.PNA. Did you know a hotel once stood here? Well, when you're standing here you should see something telling you all about it. When did this place stop being a hotel? In the year 1QRS. Also, the first letter of the hotel's name is a letter you've given a number to already. Take the number you gave that letter, subtract three, and call your answer T.

Now move to N 52° 34.S2H W 000° 14.T36 (your final intermediate location, honest!!!) Here you will find something with a number. Simply take the last three digits of the number, and call these UVW.

Right, the final cache location is at:

North 52° 3H.LR(V-F) West 000° 1(V/2).(C+I)(R-U)(W+J-M)

You are looking for a keysafe. Stealth will be required by the bucketload at the final location.

The cache is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs up till the final few metres. Bring your own pen. Initials only in log.

Happy caching, now back to those bargains!

Update 1/10/12: At present, there are lots of ongoing works going on round these parts, whereby certain areas are cordoned off for a while, then brought back online while they cordon off a different area. if you find you can't access any of the places needed, please message us and we'll look into it.
We have taken a better co-ords reading for the final intermediate waypoint (the thing with a number). We've reworked the numbers, but if you're still stuck see the hint.
We've also removed the geochecker to stop the enterprising ones amongst you from spamming it! Hopefully you won't need to now we've sorted out the waypoint ;-)
