Geocache Description:

Possibly the most spectacular Aqueduct on the Union Canal is the Lin’s Mill Aqueduct [or Almond Aqueduct] west of Ratho. Measuring 420 feet (130 m) long, it carries the Canal 76 feet (23 m) above the River Almond in just five arches.

Interestingly enough the water level in the canal is maintained by a feeder system starting with a reservoir in the Pentland Hills to the south, but including a three mile channel from the River Almond to the canal close to the Lin’s Mill Aqueduct.

The famous Broxburn icicle formed on this aqueduct in 1895. It reached a height of 22.8m (75ft).

This cache is above both water levels. Please put it back exactly where you found it.
