Mandurah's Significant Trees
Quite by accident we found a register maintained by Mandurah City Council of significant trees in the area. Some of these trees are icons around Mandurah, others are unique examples of their species, and others are just magnificent trees, but all are worth taking a look at.
We hope you enjoy finding these natural wonders.

River Red Gums
This avenue of River Red Gums is unique in Mandurah. There are few other examples of street tree plantings on this scale. The presence of these established trees greatly enhances the streetscape, with tall, spreading canopies casting welcome shade for pedestrians over the hot summer months as well as screening the adjacent shopping centre. In their natural habitat these trees provide food and habitat for the increasingly rare Regent Parrot (Polytelis anthopeplus) a subspecies of which also occurs locally.

Tallowwood
Despite its obvious attractiveness and suitability for larger parks and gardens, this Eastern States native is an uncommon sight in Mandurah. The common name is derived from its timber's smooth greasy finish which makes it well suited for the construction of dance floors and indoor playing surfaces. The heavy and hard wearing timber of this species is in high demand both in Eastrn Australia and overseas while its attractive flowers and foliage make it popular as a landscaping tree in suitable climates
