Városi állat-hősök 25.
Minden nép emléket állít kiemelkedő alakjainak, hőseinek. Ez rendjén is van, de mivel érdemelhetnek ki szobrot állatok? Persze nem azokra gondolok, „akik“ munkájukat végzik, mint pl. a hátasló, vagy a Parlament kapuját őrző oroszlánok, hanem azokra a szerencsésekre, akik saját emlékművet kaptak. Mint tudjuk (?), a második világháborúban 54 állat kapott hősi tetteiért Dickin Medal-t, mely a Viktória Kereszt-tel egyenrangú brit katonai kitüntetés. Miért is ne állíthatnánk akkor szobrot is az arra érdemeseknek?
Közülük keresünk fel néhányat ebben a sorozatban. Ha úgy érzed, ide illő, méltó szobrot találtál, bátran folytasd a sorozatot!

Kiselefánt

A szobor alumíniumból készült, eredetileg a lágymányosi óvoda játszóterén állították fel; kis medence is tartozott hozzá. Korabeli felvételt az

Az Újbudai Humán Szolgáltatóközpont létrejöttével, 2000-ben az épület funkciója megváltozott. A szobor ekkor a hátsó udvaron, még eredeti környezetében volt megtekinthető - a rejtés elődje is ide mutatott. Néhány éve az udvart hasznosították, Kiselefánt az épület bejárata elé került - a kis medence sajnos nem került megőrzésre. Egy másolat megtekinthető volt Szentendrén, a Parkmúzeumban - ezt már elbontották, az utókornak a
Fortepan archívum őrizte meg.
A műalkotás a rejtéstől 50 méterre, a referenciaponton tekinthető meg. A rejtés drive-in, de a környék fizetős - ezt vedd figyelembe, ha megtekintenéd Kiselefántot, vagy a közeli kis parkban az "Apáczai Csere János" és a "Bicínia" szobrokat.
A környék lakóövezet, "mugliforgalomra" mindig számíts!
A ládában csak logbook van, tollat hozz magaddal!

Animal heroes in the city 25.
Every nation raise a memorial his outstanding persons, his heroes . This is all right, but how can animals deserve statues? Of course I’m not thinking those „who’s“ taking their job, eg. a saddle-horse or the guardian lions of the Parlament. I speak about those lucky ones whom have their own memorials. As we know (?), in the Second World War 54 animals got the Dickin Medal for their heroical acts, which is the equal honours as the Victoria Cross. Why not we could stand a statue for the worthy ones?

Little Elephant
The statue is created by Eszter Miró in 1965. It is made from aluminium and originally, it has a little pool around and was erected in the courtyard of a local kindergarten. The pool is made from a ceramic named 'Nova', which was in fashion in the '60s. Practically, it is simply broken ceramic tile. You can find a contemporary photograph in the
archive of MTVA.
The function of the building was changed to "Újbudai Humán Szolgáltatóközpont" in 2000. This institute is responsible for family assistance and child welfare in the 11th district of Budapest, "Újbuda". The statue and the small pool was preserved at the courtyard - the original hiding place of this cache was pointed there. Lately, the courtyard became utilized and only the statue was moved to the entry of the building. You can find some contemporary and current photographs in the database of

A copy of the statue was displayed at the Park Museum of Szentendre - it was demolished, a contemporary photograph is available in the
Fortepan archive.
The Little Elephant is 50 meters from the cache, at the reference point. The hiding place is drive-in, but the area has a parking fee. You could find more statues at the nearby, small park.
The cache is in public place - the neighbourhood is residential, be careful!
