Come and help Team Schnauzer celebrate the end of summer in style! We welcome one and all cachers to our first ever event in what we hope will be an annual thing. This is a great opportunity for all us to get together and chat it up, fill our stomachs and spend a day geocaching in Story County.

Story County Conservation is a co-sponsor of this event and has graciously allowed us the use of their wonderful facilities and this terrific park for our event! Story County Conservation only asks that you follow all posted park rules and regulations and that you stay on marked walking trails as much as possible while you are here.

There is indoor and outdoor seating around this shelter, both of which are under a covered roof. If the weather's nice you might want to bring a lawn chair and just sit out on the lawn and enjoy a nice view of the lake.

We will be grilling up hot dogs for everyone! ** Let us know in advance if you would like a vegetarian option and we will do our best to make sure that there's something there for you** We'll provide the wieners, buns, condiments, plastic silverware, napkins and paper plates. Please bring your own beverage (sorry... no alcohol please) and a side dish or dessert to share. Also, please indicate the number of people that will be coming along with you.

We plan on releasing twelve (12) temporary caches at Hickory Grove Park in conjunction with this event. We will also be putting a few park-and-grab caches out near the park that week. There are already seven (7) permanent caches at Hickory Grove that we know of. There are TONS of caches available in the surrounding area - more than enough to keep you all entertained for an entire day!

Story County Conservation will have an intro to geocaching following our event here at the shelter from 2-4. If you're out searching for the temporaries and you see some people that look lost and confused they are probably new cachers. Please give them a hand if this is the case.

So, bring your bug spray, bring your boots and bring your appetites because we will have this event rain or shine! Mark September 8th on the calendar and join us in celebrating the arrival of the autumn caching season!

CAMPING - There are campsites available at Hickory Grove Park (Breezy Bay by the park's north entrance) but this camping is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. I believe they have electrical hook-ups and showers... I'll check into that. So, if you are interested in camping here you need to get here on Friday, the earlier the better. There is also a primitive campground on the South end of the park (tents only here). We've put a link on here (near the top of the listing) and that should take you to the county's webpage.
