This series offers you the opportunity to see and explore part of Wales's beautiful mountain wilderness known as the Elan Valley. You can also add our Dam It series to your journey and find other caches along these routes.

You will also be able to find the answers to our Elan Mt Rd series No 2 - Cwmystwyth Mines Earthcache questions here.

Here at our Elan Mt Rd Series No 3 you will see the ruins of many old cottages in the valley. There are only a few original miners cottages left that are still lived in today, this modern ‘pink’ painted row dates back to the 1700's... not sure what the old miners would have to say about the 21st-century colour though? It certainly brightens up the area! This cottage is believed to have been built by the Cornish miners who migrated up to Wales where there was more work available, as it is built with two levels, whereas the traditional Welsh Miners cottages are of one, like a ‘long house’.
During the summer months, the small pottery is open.
