This is a post-hike potluck picnic to follow the monthly Sunday Morning Hiking Series event. You do not need to hike to attend the picnic, which is an add-on event for all geocachers.
The picnic will be at Mueller Park's Group Site #13, from 1 to 5 p.m. The posted coordinates take you to a parking area and connecting foot bridge.
On June 7th, 2009 Hikingseal published a hiking event, Sunday Morning Hiking Series #1, and a monthly tradition was born. Each month since, starting at 8 a.m., a group of geocaching hikers young and older gather for what is typically a four hour outing. Most hikes have an "extended" option for those who want to hike further than the planned hike.
Like the postal service, the hikes disregard the weather and have continued on through wind, rain, snow and sleet! That just brings more fun to each outing, with sleds and snowballs having been part of some wintry hikes. Just three months ago, in Mineral Fork, the hikers dug out a micro cache from about 6-8 feet of snow. That should give you some idea of the group's adventuresome spirit. During warmer months, a peak or other scenic destination is a regular feature.
After each hike, there's usually an informal trailhead gathering, with drinks and snacks, where participants sit and chat about most anything. During those post-hike sessions, I'd previously suggested having a picnic. Now the occasion is perfect for that, with the June SMHS event being a hike on the Mueller Park trail to "Big Rock."
The picnic is a potluck affair. Drinks, hot dogs and condiments will be available. There is an oversize grill if you wish to cook at the site. In your Will Attend log, please note what you can bring to share.
As this is the 3rd anniversary of the Sunday Morning Hiking Series we are providing the cake. 
Mueller Park is a fee area, $8/vehicle and $5/person for walk-in. There is parking at the event site, or you can park outside the fee area and walk up the road a short distance.
