This series offers you the opportunity to see and explore the beautiful mountain wilderness of Mid Wales known as the Elan Valley. You can also add our Dam It series to your journey and find other caches along these routes.

After parking take a moment to have a closer look at a special geological feature on the massive boulder lying on the hillside just above the road...co-ords N52 18 861 W003 33 146 also see photo. This feature shows the puddled mudflows created when this area of Wales was an ocean floor.
Then follow the path opposite waypoint No1 downhill along the fence line to the gate.

Here at our Elan Mt Rd series No 11 you can enjoy the beauty of these waterfalls which are at their best after heavy rain. The area in front of the falls makes a lovely spot for a picnic with views down the valley to Gwynllyn lake. This river eventually joins the River Wye in Rhayader.
Look out for Red Kites flying around the area.

We would like to give grateful thanks to the Elan Valley Trust and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for their kind permission to allow us to place this series of caches on their land.
Please see www.elanvalley.org.uk for further information about the Elan Valley and events held during the year.
