Geocache Description:

This is a graveyard to be found on the way to the golf course. It consists of 2 seperate graveyards next to each other.

From the road, the one on the left has 1007 unnamed, but numbered, gravestones where convicts that built the pier were buried as well as patients from the asylum. The asylum was previously where the new PA Hospital now stands. The building was originally used as a convict station for those building the Kowie Harbour (1870 - 1890).

The cemetery on the right houses not only old graves but a number of ancient trees that would look right at home as part of JR Tolkien's Fangorn Forest from The Lord Of The Rings. There is a sense of peace and deep ancient secrets amongst these silent 'treebeards'. Take your time listening to their whispered secrets while reading the gravestones of the overgrown graves.

The co-ordinates may be a bit out as the day was very cloudy. The cache is a pill container covered in green camo-tape and contains a log sheet with small pencil.

You can park your car at the following co-ordinates:
S 33 36.312 / E 026 52.857

FTF honors go to Tara & John - well done!
