Another in my on-going series of caches I will be placing that reference what I consider Essential Albums of My Life.
Lucinda Williams released Car Wheels On A Gravel Road in 1998 at it destroyed all in it's way. Produced by twangtrust (aka Ray Kennedy and alt-country/singer-songwriter legend Steve Earle) it took Lucinda 6 years to follow up her great, Sweet Old World album. Lucinda is known as a perfectionist in the studio, and legend has she butted heads with Steve and Ray, and Lucinda swore never to work with them again; regardless the album is amazing. It sounds dirty and whiskey-soaked at the same time, every time I listen I hear something new and beautiful. Her songwriting is top-notch, and I cannot say enough about how strong these tracks are.
