Geocache Description:

This cache is in memory of the one-room school house that was located at the south end of School Road. The cache is located at the north end of School Road, at the intersection of Hwy 641. The former school house was located about 1/4 south of the cache location.

LacLu School was built in 1908. Land and logs were donated by farmers. Early records were lost but the 1914 records indicate E.G. Wright was a teacher at that time. Grades covered 1-8. During the 1950 Red River flood many campers children took their schooling here. The school closed in 1951. After this the building was used as a community center. In 2010 the building was dismantled.

The container is a small camoed pill container holding a log. There is space for small swag.

Thanks to the Memories of LacLu 75th Regatta Anniversary book for the school details.
