KÖYCEĞİZ - TÜRKİYE A small market town in then south-west corner of Turkey,Köyceğiz sits on the northern shore of a huge, freshwater lake among olive and orange groves, beehives and cotton fields. A quiet Turkish rather than swinging, international resort, Köyceğiz's greatest assets are its natural beauty and wildlife. These centre around the lake, Köyceğiz Gölü, which the Mediterranean and a wide, sandy turtle beach. The surrounding area, meanwhile, offers plenty in the way of history, stunning landspace, active and less active pursuits. There are the thermal springs at Sultaniye a boat ride across the lake; mudbaths, lycian rock tombs and the ancient Carian city of Caunos further down-channel, and an impressive range of mountains to explore behind the town.
Köyceğiz is just 28km from Dalaman International Airport, which also connects to major cities within Turkey.From the town centre there are regular minibus service to local destinations, while intercity buses run from the 'otogar' on the outskirts of the town almost anywhere in TURKEY.
