This Geocache could be the beginning of a day-long adventure or the end of a brief quest. Just a short 10M from this cache is the entrance to a 100+acre State Park of FL's natural woodlands following the mystical Manatee River.
This cache is located along the original paths that the first settlers of this area took to get to far off main roads. Being the original area of the Rye Family Settlers, this exact spot was traversed by horse, boat, and foot for the 1st time over 100yrs ago. New technology may have changed this scape, but it provided a great spot to put this cache! Wonder how settlers left messages for future travelers?? They couldn't have done it how this cache was hidden, that's for sure! When (or if) you find this, take a pause and look around. Just like the settlers of old, you've followed the river till you hit main road. the name of the cache is because there was a cache right here several years ago and it is the original container. I was so happy it had been archived so I could have this spot in my neighborhood. Take a pic of your discovery and post your find!
