Geocache Description:

Ammo box on up hill side of trail about 25 feet up. This is one CraZy hike you either start at the Tunnel Trail and come up to Cathedral Peak and then continue on the trail going up to La Cumbre Peak (where the old ranger lookout is) or Start at La Cumbre Peak and go down. Going up from Tunnel is a serious hike and the trail is not easy to find, going down is a lot easier (but still a bit challenging going back up).

I highly recommend going to 'Horse Thieves Cave' by Gotfish? http://coord.info/GCXWRY if you do this. See http://santabarbarahikes.com/hikes/frontcountry/cathedralpeak.shtml for information on how to find the trail going up. Also note the waypoints given for 'Dragon's Back' http://coord.info/GCXWRD . If you are up for the challenge of hiking from the bottom it is much nicer if you can drop a car off on Camino Cielo by the Ranger Station (you will need an Adventure Pass). The hike from the bottom is 4.5 miles and around 3700 ft elevation gain. The hike from the top down to the cache is 700 feet elevation drop and 1/2 mile but fairly steep and intimidating. My wife Mary and I hiked from the bottom to La Cumbre Peak in 7hours 50 minutes, she reminds me to say to take a lot of water, nourishment and wear LEATHER GLOVES the sandstone rock will tear up your hands. The trail up from Dragons Back to Cathedral Peak is easy to lose and the best way to stay on it is to look for cut off branches as the trail is maintained. If anyone wants our tracks email me. Congratulations to OryBortorty on getting the FTF!!!
